As a dual UNESCO World Heritage site for both culture and nature, as well as the birthplace of Black Tea and Oolong Tea, Wuyishan is the final stop for the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee's “High-Quality Development Research Tour” in Nanping. On August 13th, the tour group visited the ecological tea gardens in Yanzikeng Village, Xingcun Town, the Riverside Tea-Scented Path, Fulin Tea Estate, the Wuyishan National Park Exhibition Hall, the vantage point at Pioneer Ridge, and other locations to explore how the area is charting a course for ecological priority and green development.

The Yanzikeng Ecological Tea Garden, nestled amidst lush mountains, is brimming with vitality everywhere.

The tour group conducted research and interviews on local tea industry development and the construction of ecological tea gardens at the Yanzikeng Ecological Tea Garden.

“Great mountains and waters produce great tea. To accelerate the construction of green, ecological, and organic tea gardens, we are focusing on promoting integrated pest management, optimizing the soil environment in tea gardens, and biological control methods such as ‘using insects to control insects.' Building these green, ecological, and organic tea gardens not only brings higher-quality tea to consumers but also increases the income of tea farmers,” said Wu Linchun, Deputy Director of the Wuyishan Municipal Center for Tea Industry Development.

The tour group interviewed locals about the integration of Tourism and tea culture along the Riverside Tea-Scented Path.

Strolling along the Riverside Tea-Scented Path and listening to the babbling stream; visiting the Fulin Tea Estate and savoring the fragrance of rock tea flowers. Sipping a Cup of fine tea, the tour group immersed themselves in the vibrant practice of integrating tourism and tea culture in Greater Wuyi.

“Visitors who come to Xingcun Town and embark on a tea-seeking journey in Wuyishan National Park can experience picking tea leaves, making tea, and tea competitions. They can also stay in tea-themed accommodations, enjoy tea-infused meals, walk tea trails, and appreciate the fun of tea, all while experiencing the charm of tea culture up close,” said Wu Wang, Party Secretary and Town Mayor of Xingcun Town, Wuyishan City.

“What impressed me most during this trip was the increasing application of technology in the tea industry. The ecology of Wuyishan provides a unique natural environment for Wuyi rock tea, and with the support of technology, the tea from Wuyishan has become increasingly ecological and healthy. This tells us that the model of ecological tea gardens deserves further promotion,” said Liu Yuqi, a member of the tour group.

Green is the most striking feature of Nanping, and how can the strictest protection and best development be achieved in Wuyishan National Park? The Wuyishan National Park Protection and Development Belt was established to address this challenge.

From the observation deck at Pioneer Ridge, one can gaze out over an endless sea of trees.

A buffer zone of 4,252 square kilometers has been designated around Wuyishan National Park. This Wuyishan National Park Protection and Development Belt serves as a buffer zone for ecological conservation, a support zone for green development, and a radiation zone for improving people's livelihoods. It uses a larger outer circle to protect the core inner circle of Wuyishan National Park, ensuring the authenticity and integrity of its natural ecosystems while better balancing ecological conservation and green development.

Following the No. 1 Scenic Route of Wuyishan National Park, the tour group traveled north into the heart of the national park. At the Wuyishan National Park Exhibition Hall in San'gang, members of the tour group experienced the “paradise for birds, kingdom of snakes, and world of insects” through various rare specimens. Standing atop the vantage point at Pioneer Ridge, they could see the Tongmu Pass-Dazhulan fault line passing through the ridge, taking in the magnificent scenery.

The tour group visited the Wuyishan National Park Exhibition Hall in San'gang.

“The vegetation coverage here is very high, and the air quality is excellent. After speaking with staff, I learned that the current patrol management methods are keeping pace with the times, including the use of intelligent monitoring methods that integrate ground, air, and space for patrolling the national park. This is refreshing, and I believe it demonstrates the role of new productive forces in promoting environmental protection,” said Wang Yu, a member of the tour group.

The “High-Quality Development Research Tour” in Nanping came to a successful conclusion. Journalists from central and provincial media focused their cameras and pens on the achievements of Nanping's ecological civilization construction, delving into the city's dynamic practices in implementing the concept that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.” They aimed to spread good experiences and practices that can be replicated and promoted more widely.
