Currently, it is the critical period for autumn and winter management of Tea gardens. The Maitan Heart-to-Heart Tea Specialized Cooperative is seizing the season to organize tea farmers to carry out work such as weeding, fertilizing, and pruning in the tea garden. This has sparked a wave of tea garden management activities, laying the foundation for achieving high-quality and high-yield tea production next year.
“The Village has a total of 315 mu of tea, including about 150 mu of Green Tea and about 100 mu of Jin Mudan variety. There are also other varieties like Zijuan and Golden Bud. Over the past few years, through everyone's joint efforts, the tea garden has started to show results. After measures such as fertilization, weeding, and applying anti-freeze mineral oil, we seal the garden, allowing the tea trees to smoothly get through the autumn and winter.” said Xie Xiaolong, head of the Maitan Heart-to-Heart Tea Specialized Cooperative.
It is understood that the Maitan Heart-to-Heart Tea Specialized Cooperative was founded in 2025 and is located in Baotai Village, Huangjiaba Subdistrict. It operates under the model of “company + cooperative + farmer.” Unlike other tea gardens, the cooperative grows Jin Mudan, a fragrant variety introduced from Fujian, and Zhongcha 108, which have the characteristics of rich aroma and sweet taste. These are excellent varieties for making Longjing tea and Oolong Tea.
“We want to refine summer, autumn, and winter teas through meticulous processing, filling the gap in the tea market's off-season, achieving continuous income growth,” said Xie Xiaolong.
According to reports, in order to develop a high-quality tea brand, Xie Xiaolong went to Fujian, Zhejiang, and other places to learn the manufacturing methods. However, since the introduced tea tree varieties have not yet fully adapted to Maitan's climate and soil conditions, the fresh tea leaves produced by the base cannot satisfy the production of large quantities of finished tea for market release. Currently, the cooperative still mainly sells fresh tea leaves.
“Our base's tea garden is still considered young. Once the yield increases, we plan to build related factories nearby for local production, gradually developing and expanding the cooperative, and driving surrounding villagers to increase their incomes and achieve prosperity,” said Xie Xiaolong.
Xie Xiaolong stated that the cooperative will continue to do a good job in tea garden maintenance, improve the output and quality of fresh tea leaves, and strengthen standardized operations while continuously improving mechanisms. It will fully leverage its role as a bridge between the market, tea farmers, and tea factories. By building a complete industrial chain for tea planting, processing, packaging, and sales, the cooperative aims to accelerate the development of the tea industry in Baotai Village and add new momentum to rural revitalization.
