Huangshan Maofeng is one of the top ten famous teas in China, belonging to the green Tea category. It is produced in the Huangshan (Huizhou) area of Anhui Province and is also known as Huizhou tea. Created by Xieyuda Tea Shop during the Qing dynasty's Guangxu period. Every year around the Qingming and Guyu festivals, the tender buds of the initial flush from quality tea trees such as “Huangshan Zhong” and “Huangshan Dayezhong” are selected and hand-fried. The tea has a slightly curled shape, resembling a sparrow's tongue, with a green color that has a hint of yellow, Silver down clearly visible, and golden-yellow fish-shaped leaves (commonly known as gold pieces). When infused, mist gathers at the top of the Cup, the liquor is clear and light greenish-yellow, the leaf base is yellowish-green and lively, the taste is mellow and sweet, the aroma is like orchids, and the aftertaste is long-lasting. Due to the new tea being covered with white down and the bud tips having a sharp point, and because the fresh leaves are picked from the peaks of Huangshan, this tea is named Huangshan Maofeng.

    The price range for Huangshan Maofeng tea is generally between 200-2000, with different production areas, picking times, brands, and grades of tea all affecting the price. Top-grade new Maofeng tea, usually with a bud accompanied by a small leaf, is priced around 800-2000. In particular, gift box-packaged Huangshan Maofeng can be even more expensive.

    1. Authentic Huangshan Maofeng: 800-2000 yuan

    Top-grade and authentic Huangshan Maofeng generally costs around 800-1200 yuan, with each small piece of tea being a tender bud dragging a small leaf. The better the quality, the higher the price. If it is packaged in a gift box, the price will naturally be even higher, typically selling for around 1000-2000 yuan in the market.

    2. Pre-Qingming New Tea: 500-800 yuan

    Fresh Huangshan Maofeng tea picked before Qingming (Pre-Qingming) is of high quality. Good-shaped tea can sell for around 600-800 yuan per pound, while smaller leaves, which are of slightly lower grade, generally cost about 500 yuan per pound. Post-Qingming Maofeng tea may be priced around 300-400 yuan.

    There are many brands of Huangshan Maofeng, and prices vary among them. Top-grade gift-boxed Huangshan Maofeng can reach over 5000 yuan, while mid-range gift boxes are around 800 yuan, and general gift boxes are around 400 yuan.
