Summer has arrived, and in hot and humid conditions, people often sweat profusely and suffer from intense thirst, as well as feelings of dizziness and fatigue; in severe cases, they may experience chest tightness. How delightful it would be to enjoy a refreshing drink at such times! However, drinking too much or excessively cold beverages is not so pleasant.
Hot Tea Is Ideal for Hot Weather and Sweating
So, what kind of drink should people choose during the scorching summer months to cool down and relieve heat without harming their health?
According to traditional Chinese health theories, when sweating heavily due to heat, drinking a cup of hot tea can not only quench thirst but also induce light perspiration, allowing the body to release heat through sweat while stopping thirst. Tea is rich in various vitamins and trace elements, as well as polyphenols and alkaloids. Drinking tea in summer not only replenishes fluids and cools the body but also revitalizes the mind and supplements beneficial nutrients, promoting health and preventing illness.
Different types of tea are suitable for individuals with different constitutions. Green tea is recommended for healthy individuals, while those with cold stomachs should opt for Black Tea or Oolong Tea.
Today, I will share a few cooling tea recipes that you can make at home during the summer months.
1
Lemon Black Tea
Ingredients: Half a fragrant lemon, 20 grams of black tea, 2 tablespoons of honey
1. Steep the black tea in hot water for approximately 10-15 minutes.
2. Slice the lemon and add two tablespoons of honey (more honey can be added if a sweeter taste is preferred).
3. Add the filtered tea infusion (which can be cooled beforehand) and stir.
The refreshing lemon meets the tea infusion, creating a wonderful reaction. Adding an appropriate amount of honey neutralizes the lemon's sourness, resulting in a pleasantly sweet and tangy beverage.
2
Golden Kaffir Lime Green Tea
Ingredients: 4 small green kaffir limes, 200 ml of green tea infusion
1. Prepare 200 ml of green tea infusion.
2. Cut the kaffir limes in half.
3. Place the sliced kaffir limes in a cup, add some ice cubes, pour in the green tea infusion, and adjust Sweetness according to personal preference by adding syrup.
The tanginess of the small green kaffir limes complements the green tea infusion, offering a subtle fragrance. Sipping this beverage on a hot afternoon dispels all worries.
Summer Tea drinking Precautions
Tea Drinking Precaution (I)
Avoid drinking tea on an empty stomach: Ancient wisdom suggests, “A morning cup of tea is like a thief entering a poor household,” meaning that one should avoid drinking tea on an empty stomach in the morning. Drinking tea on an empty stomach dilutes gastric juices and reduces the function of stomach acid, hindering digestion and absorption of proteins.
Tea Drinking Precaution (II)
Avoid drinking tea before bedtime: It is best not to drink tea two hours before sleeping, as it may cause excessive mental stimulation and affect sleep, potentially leading to insomnia. Elderly individuals who drink tea before bedtime may experience anxiety, frequent urination, and disrupted sleep.
