Years in Tea Unmeasured by Time, We Ask Not of the Worldly Past

Tea News · May 06, 2025

Light one incense stick, savor a passage of text, and forget the flattery and clamor of the environment around you, as well as the estrangement and strife between hearts.

Imagine if I could steal half a day of leisure amidst this worldly life, or exchange the price of a pot of Tea for a moment of pure joy, I would carry a flask of Li Bai's wine and rest at Wang Wei's Bamboo Pavilion. I'd meet a gentle and demure woman like Li Qingzhao, or a lotus picker as fresh and refined as described by Wang Changling, and talk to them about Tao Yuanming's leisurely sentiments and Yang Wanli's appreciation of life.

In the present world, we are all ordinary mortals; how can we easily obtain the life we desire? However, it doesn't matter, as long as there is Zen and lotuses in our hearts, every place becomes a sanctuary for our souls, everywhere filled with bright moonlight and clear breezes.

So, I also hope that you and I can live through the bustling world with a calm and adaptable attitude.

We can find Zen in a Cup of tea and seek seclusion in a volume of books, allowing our minds to quiet down. We approach life without haste or agitation, dealing with it calmly. For relationships, we cherish those that come and let go of those that leave, accepting their comings and goings naturally, letting go of attachments.

At night, wave a fan to cool off and chat about everyday matters with neighbors.

We don't discuss much about the game of the world, only savor quietly the tea of time. We don't pretend to be perfect, only return to simplicity.

Like a plant by the roadside, adapting wherever we are; like a drifting cloud, unrestrained; like a fallen flower, unperturbed by praise or insult.

Time ages, and we change. Regardless of how the world transforms from sea to fields, or how the book of years is rewritten, I hope we remain true to our original aspirations, unbothered by restlessness, and not lost in the glittering world.

If fate allows, I wish for a period of tranquil and leisurely time with a heart of clouds, water, and tea, to spend peaceful mountain years far from contention, waiting for the hurried passersby, to make acquaintances.
