From July 26-27, the 2024 Jiangsu Tea Industry New Quality Productivity Seminar and the 11th Member Representative Assembly of the Jiangsu Tea Society, hosted by the Jiangsu Tea Society and co-organized by Jiangsu Agricultural and Forestry Vocational and Technical College and Jurong City Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, was held in Jurong, Jiangsu. Nearly 250 delegates from across the province attended. Attending the conference were: Feng Shaodong, Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Association for Science and Technology; Wu Jianhua, Second-Level Inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Jiang Renhua, President of the Chinese Tea Society and Director of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Tea Research Institute; Xia Tao, Deputy President of the China International Tea culture Research Association; Jian Zuping, Party Secretary of Jiangsu Agricultural and Forestry Vocational and Technical College; Huang Wanrong, Member of the Party Group of the Zhenjiang Municipal Committee; Yue Zhishun, Director of the Department of Societies of the Jiangsu Provincial Association for Science and Technology; Zhao Shufeng, Deputy Secretary of the Jurong Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission; Jia Liangxu, Member of the Jurong Municipal Government Party Group; Gu Lutong, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Agricultural Technology Extension General Station; Zhang Shimilitary, Director of the Jurong City Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau; Cao Renyong, Deputy Party Secretary of Jiangsu Agricultural and Forestry Vocational and Technical College; and Wang Runxian, President of the 10th Council of the Jiangsu Tea Society.
Jian Zuping delivered a welcome address, hoping that the Jiangsu Tea Society will keep up with the national trends in tea industry development, firmly grasp technological frontiers, and lead academic and industrial experts to make new contributions to the construction of a “strong, prosperous, beautiful, and high-quality” new Jiangsu.
Zhao Shufeng noted that the Jiangsu Tea Society is a bridge and bond between the government and scientific and technological workers in the provincial tea sector. He fully affirmed the Society's active role in promoting talent cultivation and technological progress in the province's tea industry field.
Speaking in their addresses, Jiang Renhua and Xia Tao expressed their congratulations. Feng Shaodong fully endorsed the effectiveness of the work done by the 10th Council of the Jiangsu Tea Society, also providing requirements and direction for the 11th Council. He hoped that the Society would actively seize new opportunities, proactively respond to new challenges, and take on the mission of self-reliance and strength in science and technology. By grasping the big picture, they should accelerate scientific and technological innovation, creating more, higher, and better scientific and technological achievements to support the high-quality development of Jiangsu's tea industry.
The meeting reviewed and approved the 10th Council's work report, the Supervisory Board's work report, financial report, revision of the Society's constitution, and the election procedures for the 11th Council and Supervisory Board. The assembly elected 79 members of the 11th Council, selecting Wu Jianhua as President of the 11th Council, and Wang Runxian as Executive Vice President. It also elected 25 standing council members and three supervisors; one secretary-general and eight deputy secretaries-general were appointed.
The meeting featured special reports by Professor Xia Tao, Researcher Jiang Renhua, and Researcher Lin Zhi, titled “Coordinated Development of Three Teas to Promote High-Quality Development of the Tea Industry,” “Reflections on Developing New Quality Productivity in the Tea Industry,” and “White Tea processing Technology Equipment and New Developments.”
The Jiangsu Tea Society, founded on November 25, 1978, has gone through 45 years, playing a significant role in guiding tea production, conducting academic research exchanges, and offering technical consultations. Through the establishment of a new council and special expert reports, there is now a clearer understanding and deeper reflection on the development of new quality productivity in the Jiangsu tea industry.
Jiangsu Agricultural and Forestry Vocational and Technical College, as the affiliated unit of the Jiangsu Tea Society, will fully cooperate and support the Society in serving the high-quality development of the tea industry in Jiangsu. The next five years are a critical period for fostering the development of new quality productivity in the Jiangsu tea industry. With the care and support of leaders, guidance and assistance from experts and scholars, and the joint efforts of industry peers, the Jiangsu Tea Society will undoubtedly continue to flourish on its new journey, achieving new successes in cultivating new quality productivity in the Jiangsu tea industry, leading the leap in comprehensive strength of the tea industry, and cultivating talents in tea technology and skills.
