Prepare the Tea Ware

“Tea is nourished by water, and water is enhanced by the vessel.” For drinking Wuyi Rock Tea, there are primarily two brewing methods: “pot brewing” and “covered cup brewing.” The former uses a clay pot (or porcelain pot), while the latter uses a porcelain covered cup (or clay covered cup). A white porcelain covered bowl is the most practical container for brewing Wuyi Rock Tea, with a size of 100ml~150ml being ideal.

Clean the Tea Sets

Warm the vessels with boiling water, and it is better to rinse the covered bowl twice. This not only cleans the utensils but also increases the temperature of the covered bowl, which helps release the tea's character.
3
Appreciate the Tea

Place the tea leaves into the warmed covered bowl. Before brewing, try shaking the covered bowl gently. This not only allows you to appreciate the sweet aroma of the tea but also serves as a way to awaken the tea.

Brew the Tea

“The vessel is the father of tea, and water is the mother of tea.” Generally, we use boiling water at 100 degrees Celsius for brewing. When brewing, you can use the direct pouring method to make the tea flavor come out faster. For the first three infusions, do not let the tea steep for too long—pour in and pour out immediately. Starting from the fourth infusion, increase the Steeping time appropriately as the number of infusions increases.
6
Serve the Tea

Pour the brewed rock tea into cups, filling them about seven-eighths full. Serve the tea to guests using the general order of left high and right low. Hold the cup with the Three Dragons Guarding the Tripod gesture (thumb and index finger holding the cup, middle finger supporting the bottom).

Taste the Tea
