Leifeng Mountain Tea-1

Basic Introduction to Leifeng Mountain Tea

Leifeng Mountain Tea is a specialty product of Leifeng Mountain in Dongsheng Town, Pengze County, Jiangxi Province, and is one of the top ten famous teas in Jiangxi. The terrain where Leifeng tea is grown is steep and remote, with mist shrouding the area all year round, and deep ravines crisscrossing the landscape, forming unique tea quality. This geographical advantage contributes to Leifeng Mountain Tea being one of the top ten teas in Jiangxi.

The tea from Leifeng Mountain has neat and elegant leaves with a tender green luster, a warm and clear infusion color, transparent liquid, a rich and fragrant aroma, a sweet and mellow taste, a refreshing aftertaste that lingers on the palate, and is highly favored in the market.

Leifeng Mountain Tea can sprout as early as the “Awakening of Insects” period and can be marketed before the “Spring Equinox,” significantly earlier than other famous teas. Apart from early harvesting, Leifeng Mountain Tea also features uniform budding, distinct growth cycles, even maturity, and strong tenderness retention.

Historical Folklore

In 1669, during the eighth year of the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty, a monk named Lei Wu from Hangzhou came to Pengze and planted tea seedlings, initiating over 300 years of Leifeng Mountain Tea cultivation.

In 1951, enterprises in Pengze County, Jiangxi Province inherited the traditional Leifeng Mountain Tea production methods and innovated modern processing techniques.

In 2008, the Pengze County Tea Cooperative promoted the planting and harvesting of Leifeng Mountain Tea by High-mountain tea farmers, adopting a model of “company + cooperative + farmer” to drive tea production.

In 2008, the processing capacity of Leifeng Mountain Tea from enterprises in Pengze County grew from less than 2 tons in the early days of liberation to over 50 tons annually, forming an integrated production enterprise encompassing processing, refrigeration, packaging, sales, and storage.

In 2025, leaders of Pengze County attended the “Second Leifeng Mountain Tea culture and Art Festival,” urging the expansion of brand advantages, improvement in production volume and processing efficiency of Leifeng Mountain Tea, and promotion of income growth for tea farmers.
