Cainong Tea: Tasting Pu-er – Drinking in Moderation

Tea News · May 06, 2025

Pu'er Tea not only provides tea enthusiasts with a rich sensory experience, but its physical effects are the greatest advantage of Pu'er over other types of tea. High-quality Pu'er tea leaves the entire body feeling warm and comfortable after tasting, allowing for relaxation of both mind and body. This can lead many enthusiasts to drink excessively, especially newcomers to Pu'er tea who, upon developing a liking for it, may not practice moderation. It is important to avoid drinking on an empty stomach as this is not conducive to healthy tea consumption. Long-term excessive and overly concentrated drinking can burden our bodies, as too much of anything is not good.

While Drinking Tea is beneficial, it should be done in moderation—it's not a case of “the more, the better.” Excessive Tea drinking, particularly of strong tea, can be detrimental to health. This is because the Caffeine in tea can stimulate the central nervous system, accelerate heart rate, increase the workload on the heart and kidneys, and affect sleep at night. High concentrations of caffeine and polyphenols can also strongly stimulate the digestive tract, inhibiting gastric juice secretion and affecting digestive function.

Generally speaking, three infusions of tea per day is sufficient. For adults, a daily intake of 10-20 grams of tea is appropriate. Drink one infusion around 9 AM, about half an hour after breakfast; another around 2 PM, about half an hour after lunch; and the last one around 8 PM, about half an hour after dinner.
