New Tea sprouts green, and spring is captivating. With the peak season for harvesting Duyun Maojian Spring Tea arriving as scheduled, the tea mountains in Duyun City are lush and verdant. Tea picking not only brings joy of a bountiful harvest to the tea farmers but also serves as an important means of increasing their income.
Recently, at the tea plantation in Tuanshan Village, Xiaoweizhai Subdistrict, the tea plants have been rejuvenated by spring rains, bursting with vitality. Tea farmers, carrying bamboo baskets, skillfully pick fresh green leaves, working busily and happily.
“The weather has been good these days, and the tea grows quickly. We start picking tea on the mountain around 5 in the morning and don't come down until around 6 in the evening. We sell the fresh tea leaves we pick on the same day, and every day we earn about 100-200 yuan. It's pretty decent,” said Sister Yang from Tuanshan Village.
While tea farmers are busy picking tea on the mountain, tea enterprises at the foot of the mountain are also working overtime, running full steam ahead with tea production as the peak season for harvesting spring tea arrives.
In the production workshop of Tuanshan Xin Tian Tea Co., Ltd. in Duyun City, tea masters carry out the processes of spreading the tea for withering, killing the green, shaping, drying, and enhancing the down hairs in an orderly manner. Their hardworking figures harmonize with the machines that run non-stop, composing one springtime symphony after another of progress and endeavor.
“We started picking and processing tea on March 20th and have been busy for over 20 consecutive days now. As spring tea hits the market, our orders have significantly increased compared to usual. We've already sold over 300 orders, and we need to purchase more than 500 pounds of fresh tea leaves daily to meet the needs of production and sales,” said Wang Yebiao, a member of the Xiaoweizhai Subdistrict Tuanshan Village Committee and head of Duyun City Tuanshan Xin Tian Tea Co., Ltd.
With the development and expansion of the tea industry, Tuanshan Village in Xiaoweizhai Subdistrict has gradually formed an integrated tea industry chain that encompasses tea planting, processing, and sales.
It is understood that currently, there are a total of 17,000 mu (approximately 1,133 hectares) of tea gardens planted in Tuanshan Village, with 9,000 mu (approximately 600 hectares) being harvestable. There are over 100 Tea processing enterprises (workshops) in the village, with an annual tea output value of 20 million yuan, radiating benefits to more than 800 tea farmer households in terms of increased income.
Wang Yebiao said, “Currently, based on producing traditional Duyun Maojian tea, we are actively trying to develop tea products such as Black Tea and bulk tea, enriching our range of tea products and improving the comprehensive economic efficiency of tea trees. At the same time, we have already reached preliminary cooperative intentions with some large local tea enterprises. Relying on their production and sales platforms, we aim to expand sales channels and further drive the prosperity and increased income of tea enterprises and tea farmers in Tuanshan Village.”
