A village in the southwestern borderlands, surrounded by high mountains, living alongside Tea
Where does the name Luoshuidong come from?
Luoshuidong is a natural village, originally named Manluo, which belongs to the mountainous area and is under the jurisdiction of the Mahēi Village Committee, Yiwu Township, Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province. The name Luoshuidong comes from a mysterious cave in the village.
This cave connects to a river at the edge of Yiwu. Due to the local topography and elevation differences, the cave appears bottomless. Even with constant rainfall, water only enters the cave without overflowing, hence the name Luoshuidong.
Luoshuidong has a special connection with water. Compared to Yiwu's well-known reputation, Luoshuidong is more low-key. Its name, containing the character for “water,” adds a touch of gentleness. The ancient tea trees grown here are renowned for their fragrant aroma and soft, smooth infusion.
Water always carries hope and nurtures life. From all corners of the earth, water has been present since ancient times. And Luoshuidong, due to the presence of water, has developed unique characteristics.

Renowned as a Representative of High-Quality Yiwu Tea
What makes Luoshuidong so special?
Luoshuidong is not only the center of ancient tea tree production in the Mahēi Village Committee but also one of the oldest villages in the many tea mountains of Yiwu for growing Pu'er tea.
The Pu'er tea produced in Luoshuidong is praised by tea enthusiasts as a representative of high-quality Yiwu tea.
The main reasons are twofold: firstly, they are closely related to the unique ecological environment. Although Luoshuidong is located in a high-altitude mountainous area, its terrain is relatively special, forming a small basin surrounded by high mountains. This small basin, influenced by the surrounding high mountains, is often shrouded in mist, reducing direct sunlight exposure and providing ample diffused light for the tea trees.
Moreover, abundant rainfall in the Luoshuidong area enriches the nutrient-rich and well-aerated humus soil on the surrounding high mountains, which is washed down into the village by rainwater, creating deep and fertile soil layers for the growth of tea trees, providing them with abundant nutrients.
In addition to the unique and favorable ecological environment, another factor contributing to the high quality of Luoshuidong Pu'er tea is the reasonable management and protection of tea trees by the villagers, as well as their rigorous and skilled tea-making techniques.
In multiple tea competitions and evaluations held in the Yiwu tea region, Luoshuidong Village has consistently ranked among the top for its skilled tea-making techniques, surpassing other villages.
Under the dual influence of favorable natural conditions and skilled tea-making techniques, the quality of Luoshuidong Pu'er tea is relatively high. After proper storage, the taste of Luoshuidong Pu'er tea becomes even more mellow and sweet, with a stronger and more pronounced qi, making it highly valuable for aging.
As one of the high-quality origins in the Yiwu tea region, the Pu'er tea produced in Luoshuidong not only exhibits the characteristics of fragrant aroma and soft infusion typical of Yiwu teas but also has unique features that have earned it the title of a high-quality representative of Yiwu tea.
