Many Tea enthusiasts often use purple clay Teapots for brewing tea, but in winter, there are some issues to be mindful of. A teapot that was fine suddenly starts cracking on its own. Is this due to a problem with the quality of the pot, or have we not been maintaining it properly?

While the winter is not yet apparent in the southern parts of China, it's already snowing lightly in the north. Therefore, when using a Purple Clay Teapot for brewing tea in the north, it's not suitable to directly pour hot water into the teapot. Since the teapot body is relatively cold, pouring boiling water directly can likely cause it to crack.
We should place the teapot, which has been washed with cold water, indoors and wait until the teapot reaches room temperature before warming it up and brewing tea.

The method of warming up the teapot also requires attention. First, pour water at about 40-50 degrees Celsius into the teapot and shake it vigorously to ensure even heating of the teapot body. Then, the water can be discarded. Pour boiling water again and repeat the shaking process once more before discarding the water. After this, you can proceed to Brew tea.
The first shaking is to ensure even heating of the teapot, while the second shaking serves to clean and disinfect it.

In addition to the impact of temperature, another possibility is that the teapot may have been knocked or bumped during previous use, but no significant problems were apparent at the time. When used improperly or exposed to large temperature differences, the existing minor issues will become evident.
