Recently, due to a sudden drop in temperature and late frosts, some Tea gardens in Anshun, Liupanshui, Qiannan, and Bijie have been affected by frost to varying degrees since April 1st, seriously impacting this year's Spring Tea production. In order to minimize the losses caused by the disaster, the Provincial Tea Special Task Force, in consultation with the Provincial Tea Research Institute and the Plant Protection and Plant Quarantine Station, propose the following remedial measures.

I. Harvest the Initially Frost-Damaged Tea Leaves to Reduce Losses Caused by Frost Damage

1. After the frost, promptly organize workers to harvest the initially frost-damaged fresh leaves to avoid further damage from subsequent warmer weather. Additionally,

2. process the frost-damaged tea according to the degree of damage into Black Tea, making every effort to recover losses.

II. Take Different Remedial Measures According to the Degree of Frost Damage

1. For tea gardens where only the top buds are damaged, remove the frozen tender shoots;

2. If a large area of buds and leaves have wilted or turned brown in the frost-damaged tea gardens, prune them 2-3 cm below the frost-damaged buds after the temperature stabilizes;

3. For mature leaves that have turned brown in the tea garden, take severe pruning measures.

III. Post-Frost Revitalization Measures

1. Promote the emergence of new buds.

(1) After removing or pruning the frost-damaged buds and leaves, you can use 0.136% gibberellin-benzyladenine-brassinolide wettable powder (Bihuo, EU organic) at 7500 times dilution + organic water-soluble fertilizer (Livig, EU organic, organic matter ≥100g/L) at 750 times dilution;

(2) or use an amino acid-containing water-soluble fertilizer (Eskang, EU organic, amino acid content ≥110g/L, manganese + zinc content ≥24g/L) at 300 times dilution;

(3) or use an amino acid-containing water-soluble fertilizer (Shifang, EU organic, amino acids ≥120g/L, Fe+Zn+B ≥22g/L) at 600 times dilution;

(4) or use 5% oligosaccharide amino acid solution (Haidaosu, organic certified) at 800-1000 times dilution.

After the first foliar spray, another application can be made after 5-7 days to promote the growth of unaffected buds and leaves and restore production as soon as possible.

After the spring tea season, shallow cultivation and top-dressing should be carried out, along with scientific pest control based on the occurrence of diseases and pests.
