In order to fully implement the spirit of the Notice on Relevant Work for the Support of Modern Border Prosperous Village Construction by the Yunnan Science and Technology Department, promote the “Hundreds of Teams and Thousands of Members Assist Farmers in Increasing Income” initiative, further implement the work of the special teams, enhance the quality of technology services, and address technical shortcomings in industrial development, effectively playing the supporting role of science and technology in agricultural industries, from August 6 to 9, 2024, the Special Team (hereinafter referred to as the team) led by Dr. Liu Benying, Deputy Director of the Tea Research Institute and Captain of the Guanlei Town and Yiwu Town Special Team in Mengla County, Yunnan Province, along with a group of five others including Dr. Zhou Yuzhong, Associate Researcher and Deputy Director of the Tea Research Institute and Captain of the Mengban Town Special Team in Mengla County, went to Mengla County to provide technology services.
The team provided technology services in Manzhuang Village of Mengla Town, Manbansan Villager Group under the Mengrun Village Committee of Mengbang Town, and Zawang Village Group under the Tengmie Mountain Village Committee of Guanlei Town. To improve villagers' understanding and application of relevant knowledge, the team demonstrated and explained practical techniques such as orchard weeding, fertilization, pest and disease control, fruit tree pruning, and rubber forest management, and also analyzed and introduced the important role of agriculture in boosting industrial development in border villages and promoting poverty alleviation. During their service period, the team also provided bio-fertilizers, green pest control pesticides, and other materials to demonstration bases, ensuring that villagers could truly learn and apply what they had learned.
This technology service work provided strong technical support for the high-quality development of agricultural industries in Mengla County's border villages, demonstrating the team's commitment and execution in serving the grassroots and promoting rural revitalization. The team will continue to focus on addressing technical shortcomings in the industrial development of border villages and key tasks in project services, persistently carrying out technology services to make positive contributions to the training of local technological talents, revitalization of rural industries, and increasing the income of farmers in border villages.
