Da Ye Puer Tea, as one of the top products in the Puer tea category, its range of Seven Sons Cake Teas (7572, 7542, 7262, 7592, 8582, 8592, 7672, 7692, etc.), Menghai Tuocha, Puer Tuocha, Puer Brick Tea, Daughter Tribute Tea, Imperial Puer, and others have been regarded as classic representatives of Puer tea by industry insiders for decades. They have become highly sought-after treasures for countless tea enthusiasts. The first two digits represent the year of the formula, the third digit represents the grade of the tea leaves, and the fourth digit represents the factory code. For example, 7542 means: a formula from 1975, made with Grade 4 tea leaves, and produced by Menghai Factory (Menghai Factory's code is 2).
Puer Tea 7542 or 7572: Which One is Better?
The 7572 and 7542 varieties of Puer tea are different. 7572 Puer tea is a ripe tea made from Yunnan large-leaf sun-dried Green Tea through a heap fermentation process. 7542 Puer tea is a raw tea that is naturally aged without undergoing a heap fermentation process.
The taste of 7572 and 7542 Puer teas differs. 7572 Puer tea, being a ripe tea, has a mellow and non-stimulating taste. 7542 Puer tea, because it is a raw tea, has a strong stimulating effect with a relatively intense bitterness and astringency.
7572 Puer tea is based on a Puer tea recipe developed by the Menghai Tea Factory in 1975, made from Grade 7 tea leaves. It features golden tips on the surface and robust tea leaves inside, carefully crafted using the “Da Ye Tea Making Technique.” It is characterized by its round shape, appropriate firmness, and an even distribution of golden tips.
Both these teas are produced by the Menghai Tea Factory, with formulas standardized in 1975. The raw tea materials used are graded at 4 and 7 respectively.
The term “benchmark product” does not mean that the tea is exceptionally delicious or expensive, but rather that the quality of these two teas can serve as a standard for the entire Puer tea industry.
