Tea connoisseurs pay great attention to the quality, taste, and color of tea, making the selection of tea sets very important; however, cleaning tea sets is also a headache. How should tea scale and stains be cleaned?
1. Direct cleaning
After each tea session, first remove all tea leaves from the pot, then rinse the tea set with clean water. This is the simplest cleaning method and is usually sufficient.
2. Using toothpaste to clean tea sets
If you cannot clean the teapot immediately after use and it becomes stained over time, apply a small amount of toothpaste to the teapot's surface. Use a cotton swab to spread it evenly, leave it for about one minute, then rinse with water. Repeat if necessary.
3. Using heated rice vinegar or baking soda
For thick tea scale that toothpaste cannot remove, try soaking with baking soda or heated rice vinegar. Shake and let it sit for a while to remove long-accumulated stains.
4. Avoid using rough cleaning tools
Be cautious not to use rough tools that may damage the teapot. While effective for cleaning, they can harm the glaze, making the teapot thinner and allowing tea stains to penetrate deeper, making it harder to clean over time.
How to clean tea sets of different materials:
1. For metal tea strainers stained black with tea scale, soak in vinegar or bleach if regular detergent fails.
2. For teacups or teapots with heavy tea scale, scrub with a sponge dipped in salt.
3. For small tea stains, soak in bleach or cleaning powder solution overnight.
4. Use potato peels: place them in the cup, add boiling water, cover, and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Shake well to remove tea scale.
5. Scrub with toothpaste or crushed eggshells, then rinse with water.
6. Soak in diluted acid vinegar for 30 minutes to restore shine. For delicate tea sets, wipe with a cloth dipped in vinegar, and use a soft brush for hard-to-reach areas.
