Four Observations
I. Observe the Label
1. According to Article 67 of the Food Safety Law, pre-packaged food should have a label. The label should indicate the following information: (i) name, specifications, net content, production date; (ii) ingredients or list of components; (iii) name, address, and contact details of the manufacturer; (iv) shelf life; (v) product standard code; (vi) storage conditions; (vii) common names of food additives used as specified in national standards; (viii) production license number; (ix) other information required by law, regulations, or food safety standards. Quality grades are specified in the National Food Safety Standard for General Principles of Pre-Packaged Food Labelling (GB 7718).
2. Identification Mark

You can use products with the above identification mark with confidence.
II. Observe the Shape of Good Tea
The shape is distinctive; the tea leaves are tight and small; uniform and intact.

III. Observe the Tenderness

From left to right in the image above:
Singles Bud, one bud one Leaf, one bud two leaves, one bud three leaves
The greener the raw material, the better the quality of the Green Tea.

In the image, as tenderness decreases from left to right, the quality of the green tea also decreases.

IV. Observe the Color
1. Color of Dry Tea
Pale green—emerald green—dark green—inky green
Pale green and fresh is preferred.

2. Color of the Tea Infusion

From left to right in the image above, the quality of the tea decreases.

The leaf base on the left has higher tenderness than the one on the right.
One Smell
Smell the Aroma: Types, intensity, purity, and persistence of the aroma.
Fresh floral fragrance, fresh and high aroma, fresh and sweet fragrance, strong chestnut aroma…
One Taste
Taste the Flavor: Concentration, thickness, astringency, purity, and freshness of the flavor.
Fresh, tender, smooth, fresh, mellow, sweet, strong, bitter and astringent…

Preservation
● Store in low temperature, dry conditions, low oxygen, avoid light, and seal to prevent odor absorption.
● The moisture content of the tea should be 4%~6% (the dry tea should easily crumble into powder when squeezed by hand).
● Storage Method: Low-Temperature Fresh Preservation
Method 1: Refrigerate at 0°C~5°C, preserve for 1 year;
Method 2: Freeze at -10°C or lower, preserve for 2~3 years.
