Fresh-Clear Type:

Refers to teas with a clear, fragrant aroma and a fresh, brisk taste. Made from fine, tender leaves processed promptly and properly, typically found in some green teas and black teas.

Representative teas: Dongting Biluochun, Mengding Ganlu, Nanjing Yuhua Tea, Duyun Maojian, Bailin Gongfu, etc.

Fresh-Rich Type:

Includes the fresh-thick type. The taste is fresh yet rich, with a refreshing aftertaste reminiscent of eating fresh fruit. Made from high-quality, tender leaves with thick buds, processed promptly and properly.

Representative teas: Huangshan Maofeng, Wuyuan Mingmei, etc.

Fresh-Mellow Type:

Includes the fresh-brisk type. The taste is fresh and mellow, with a sweet and refreshing aftertaste. Made from relatively tender and fresh leaves processed promptly with lighter rolling, such as high-grade baked green teas, or teas with normal rolling.

Representative teas: Taiping Houkui, Guzhu Zisun, White Peony, high-grade Keemun Black Tea, Yihong Black Tea, etc.

Fresh-Mild Type:

The taste is fresh, sweet, and comfortable, but relatively mild. Resulting from the chemical composition of the tender, fresh leaves and the specific processing techniques used.

Representative teas: Such as Junshan Yinzhen, Mengding Yellow Buds, etc.

Strong-Intense Type:

Has a fresh fragrance or a roasted chestnut aroma. The taste is strong but not bitter, highly astringent but not harsh, with a long, refreshing, and sweet aftertaste. Typically made from plump buds and thick leaves, such as one bud with two or three leaves of good tenderness, rich in content, and processed properly.

Representative teas: Tunlu Green Tea, Wulu Green Tea, etc.

Strong-Powerful Type:

The taste is strong and rich, clinging to the tongue, with high stimulation and a tightening sensation. Made from leaves picked at optimal maturity, rich in content (often from improved varieties or large-leaf varieties), with lighter withering, sufficient rolling/cutting, and lighter fermentation, typically found in broken black teas.

Representative teas: Broken Black Tea, etc.

Strong-Rich (Brisk) Type:

Has strong stimulation and astringency, with a sweet and refreshing aftertaste. Made from finely picked raw materials with thick, substantial leaves, processed properly.

Representative teas: Lingyun Baihao, Nan'an Shiting Green Tea, Shulu Green Tea, Suilu Green Tea, Dianhong Black Tea, Wuyi Rock Tea, etc.
