On a Smoggy Day, Have a Homemade Cup of Water Chestnut White Tea!

Tea News · Apr 26, 2026

       It is said that under the shroud of smog, a new Beijing spirit was born: "Endure the haze with virtue, strive without breathing, work hard in the haze, and create a gray-yellow glory!" In the past two years, smog has silently arrived in Hangzhou. With PM2.5 around 170 (moderate pollution), it can cause chest tightness, elevated blood pressure, and affect the throat and eyes. How can we save our fragile respiratory systems?

In response to public demand, the editor has found a tea recipe—braised water chestnuts with white tea—which can moisten the lungs, reduce inflammation, and relieve phlegm and pain. Don't just complain about the haze—drink white tea. It's great for fighting smog!

1. Take a few grams of Fuding white tea, preferably aged over seven years, which is highly effective for clearing heat, detoxifying, reducing inflammation, and lowering internal heat.

2. Take some fresh water chestnuts, wash and peel them for later use.

3. Take a purple clay pot and add the white tea.

4. Brew with high-temperature water.

5. Pour out the tea liquor and set aside.

6. Take a tea cooker and put in the water chestnuts.

7. Pour the white tea liquor into the cooker.

8. Place on the stove and simmer over low heat.

9. Simmer for 10-15 minutes and it is ready to drink.

Warm Tips:

Start by drinking tea to fight smog, but also prepare comprehensively.

1. Ventilate the room regularly;

2. Stay away from busy roads as much as possible;

3. Eat light meals;

4. Avoid crowded places as much as possible;

5. Minimize going outdoors;

6. Change clothes promptly after returning from outside.
