Basic Introduction to Jing'an White Tea

Jing'an White Tea is a specialty of Jing'an County, Jiangxi Province, and is a Chinese Geographical Indication product. The main production area is in the Jiuling Mountains in Shuangxi Village, Luowan Township. Through long-term selection and cultivation, Jing'an White Tea has developed unique quality advantages. It has a tightly rolled, neat appearance, a tender white color, an intense fragrance, and a sweet and harmonious taste; its infusion is a tender yellow and bright color, and the leaves at the bottom of the cup open up to reveal their jade-white color, while the veins remain green. This tea has received honors such as the Silver award at the 2006 Jiangxi Provincial Famous and High-quality Tea Evaluation and the gold award at the Third China International Tea Expo in 2006.

Product Characteristics

Jing'an White Tea is a rare treasure among teas. Its natural shape resembles phoenix feathers, with a color like jade frost, bright and lustrous, and an aroma that is fresh, fragrant, and uniquely reminiscent of licorice. The infusion is clear and bright, and the leaves unfold naturally at the bottom of the cup, exhibiting a noble character. Biochemical analysis shows that the amino acid content of Jing'an White Tea can reach 6-9%, which is 3-6 times higher than that of premium green teas, and the catechin content is 10.7%, half that of ordinary teas. Historical and Folk Customs

The cultivation of white tea in Jing'an has a history of over 400 years. According to records in the “Jiangxi Yearbook” of 1935, our county produced “Jing'an White Tea” and “Jing'an Tipped Tea.” Jing'an White Tea is a local specialty, primarily produced in Luowan Township and Sanzhualun Township, followed by Zaozhu Town, Zhongyuan Township, Baofeng Town, and other areas. According to the “Jing'an Agricultural Gazetteer,” Jing'an White Tea originates from wild tea found in the Jiuling Mountains in Shuangxi Village, Luowan Township, Jing'an County, Jiangxi Province, and has a history of over four hundred years. To distinguish it from white tea produced in other regions, producers and consumers naturally named it Jing'an White Tea. In August 1989, county tea technology personnel conducted artificial propagation, and subsequently, trials were carried out for promotion at the Jing'an Shijing Tea Factory, gradually expanding throughout the county. To date, the total area of white tea in the county is 15,000 mu. Due to the unique soil and ecological environment of Jing'an, the white tea produced here has been examined and tested by experts: during its whitening period, the amino acid content reaches above 7%, which is 2-3 times higher than that of premium green teas, while the catechin content is at the lowest level. There are no significant differences in catechin composition, total nitrogen levels, Caffeine, and water-soluble substances at different stages.
