Liubao Tea is characterized by becoming more fragrant with age. Within a certain period, the taste, flavor, and aroma of Liubao tea will change as it ages, leading many tea enthusiasts to collect it. However, these enthusiasts sometimes make the mistake of storing Liubao tea together with other types of tea.
One: Mixing Is Not Recommended, as It Can Absorb Unwanted Odors
Due to its strong absorbency, improperly stored Liubao tea can absorb the surrounding environment's odors and the flavors of other types of tea, such as raw Pu'er, Yancha, and Green Tea, significantly reducing the tea's quality.
Therefore, when storing Liubao tea with other types of tea, different containers or paper bags should be used for separation. So, without professional warehousing, how should Liubao tea be preserved at home?
Two: Five Important Storage Tips
1. Separate/Classify the Storage
Firstly, stay away from miscellaneous and unwanted odors. Different types of tea should be stored separately. Do not place different types of tea in the same container or paper bag, preventing two different teas with distinct aromas from mingling and affecting the purity of the Liubao tea's fragrance.
2. Tea Storage Containers
The best choice for containers is breathable ones made of purple clay, Nixing Pottery, or earthenware. Soft paper boxes, paper bags, bamboo baskets, wooden boxes, and jute bags can also be used, with a layer of gauze or rice paper lined inside the container.
3. Dryness and Humidity
Dryness and humidity are crucial conditions for ensuring the smooth aging of tea. If stored long-term in an environment with relative humidity above 85%, the tea may become moldy. If the humidity is too low, the transformation process will be less effective, and the aging period will be longer. Therefore, suitable dryness and humidity can ensure the tea ages smoothly while avoiding moldiness. A humidity level between 40-70% is ideal.
4. Temperature
The storage environment should be cool, with a temperature not exceeding 35°C. Avoid prolonged exposure to light and use coverings to block out light to prevent the Liubao tea from deteriorating.
5. Ventilation and Air Circulation
The storage environment should not be completely sealed. Windows can be opened appropriately based on the situation, and precautions should be taken against insects and rodents.
Warm Reminder
For tea enthusiasts in the south, during the humid season or rainy season, remember not to open windows! You can place an appropriate amount of charcoal or bamboo charcoal in different corners of the storage room to dehumidify. When the weather is clear and dry, you can open the windows for ventilation.
For tea enthusiasts in the north, during dry seasons, you can place several basins of water in the storage room to increase humidity, but remember to change the water frequently or use a humidifier to maintain the air's appropriate humidity.
