On July 31, the Senate District Committee organized a group of its members to visit the District Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau to conduct research on the Tea industry chain in the Huangpi District, aiming to promote high-quality development of the tea industry. Vice Chairman Chen Chuanzhong attended the event and delivered remarks.

The Huangpi District has a long history of Tea culture. Its rich cultural heritage and unique geographical environment provide ideal conditions for the development of the tea industry. In recent years, the district has made full use of its forest resources to vigorously develop the tea industry. The scale of tea cultivation has expanded from 15,000 mu before 2006 to 100,000 mu in 2025, making it the largest tea-producing area in Wuhan. As the rural revitalization strategy advances, the tea industry has gradually become a key, distinctive, and prosperous industry in the northern mountainous areas and former revolutionary bases, becoming a highlight of both the rural revitalization and comprehensive tourism development in Huangpi.

Representatives from the tea industry association and tea enterprises reported on the construction and development of tea bases and provided suggestions for enhancing the development of the Huangpi tea industry. The committee members exchanged views and shared insights regarding the development of the tea industry in our district, offering recommendations based on their respective professional backgrounds and experiences, such as improving management, optimizing planting models, increasing policy support, and expanding the tea industry chain.

Vice Chairman Chen Chuanzhong emphasized that “green waters and lush mountains are gold and Silver mountains,” noting that the Huangpi District is rich in forest resources and has suitable natural conditions, providing an unparalleled advantage for developing the tea industry. He pointed out that we must embrace the “philosophy of nature and water,” follow a path of green development, and convert the ecological advantages of Huangpi into strengths for green development, driving the rapid and quality growth of the tea industry. Firstly, implement a brand strategy. The government should strengthen guidance, with enterprises as the main body, integrate resources, and formulate business strategies. Leverage the cultural connotations of Huangpi to create unique tea brands. Establish standards for branded tea production, and build a comprehensive operational system covering the entire process of production, processing, and marketing to enhance the Huangpi tea industry chain. Secondly, increase investment in science and technology. Fully leverage the role of science and technology as the primary productive force, increase funding for scientific and technological research in the tea industry, attract and cultivate specialized talent, and continuously enhance the added value of the tea industry. Thirdly, promote the integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism. Leveraging the natural scenic advantages of Huangpi, relying on concentrated tea areas like the Cai Zhai Flower Country Tea Valley and Mulan Lake Tea Region, develop experiences such as tea picking, handcrafted tea-making, camping in tea gardens, and tea poetry gatherings to form a unique tea travel experience route featuring Huangpi tea and regional culture. Lastly, increase promotional efforts. By organically integrating agriculture, culture, and tourism, make use of various large-scale events such as cultural activities, seminars, trade fairs, tourism festivals, and tea tasting sessions, and utilize diverse media outlets including outdoor advertisements, newspapers, television, and the Internet, to further promote the Huangpi tea brands such as “Mulan Heavenly Fragrance.”
