Oolong Tea is one of the six major types of tea, and within Oolong Tea, there are further classifications. Today, let me introduce them to you.
1. Wuyi Rock Tea
Produced in Wuyi Mountain, Fujian Province, Wuyi Rock Tea has a stout and uniform shape, tightly curled with a glossy appearance, and its leaves have a frog-like texture on the back.
The color is emerald green, sandy green, and honey yellow, while the underside and edges of the leaves are crimson or speckled red, and the center is light green.
Tasting this tea, it has a rich aroma, a thick and mellow taste, a fresh and smooth mouthfeel, and a lingering sweetness with a unique “rock flavor”. Dahongpao is the highest quality among Wuyi Rock Teas.

2. Phoenix Dancong
Produced in the Wudong Mountain tea area of Phoenix Town, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, the tea is sturdy and curled, with a light yellowish-green color. The infusion is yellowish with a greenish tint, and it has a clear and lasting fragrance that lingers even after multiple infusions, with a lingering sweetness.
3. Taiwanese Oolong Tea
Produced in Taiwan, it has a coiled shape and a chestnut-brown color. The tea liquor is orange-red with a pure and genuine taste, naturally endowed with a strong fruity aroma. After brewing, the leaves display red edges and a green center. Dongding Oolong Tea (commonly known as Dongding tea) from Nantou County is particularly famous and valuable.

4. Tieguanyin
Produced in Anxi, southern Fujian, “Tieguanyin” is both a tea name and the name of the tea plant variety. This tea has a tightly bound shape, some resembling a weighing hook, others like the head of a dragonfly. As the Caffeine evaporates with the water, a layer of white frost forms on the surface, referred to as “sandy green with a white bloom”.
After brewing, a unique fragrance fills the air. Sipping it while hot, the mouth is filled with fragrance and there's a lingering sweetness in the throat, making it worthy of the saying “seven infusions with remaining fragrance”.
5. Phoenix Shuixian
This is a strip-shaped Oolong tea produced in Phoenix Village, Chaoan, Guangdong. It is divided into three grades: single bush, Langcai, and Shuixian.
It has a natural floral fragrance, a honey-like aroma, and a concentrated, mellow, refreshing, and sweet taste, and is very resilient to multiple infusions. Primarily sold in Guangdong and Hong Kong and Macau regions, it is also exported to Japan, Southeast Asia, and the United States.
Phoenix Shuixian is praised for its “beautiful shape, emerald color, fragrant aroma, and sweet taste”. The tea leaves are large, and their color resembles that of an eel skin, with a lustrous sheen. The tea liquor is clear and golden, with a mellow and refreshing taste and a lingering sweetness, and a long-lasting aroma that withstands many infusions.
