When the tap water is about to boil (80°C-90°C), open the lid of the kettle.
Reason: There may be small amounts of organic pollutants in tap water. When heated, some volatile organic compounds evaporate with the steam. Opening the lid when the water is about to boil allows these substances to evaporate as much as possible.

After boiling, it is recommended to keep the water boiling for about 3 minutes.
Reason: Water plants generally use chlorination to disinfect tap water during production, leaving very little residual chlorine (such as hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite) in the tap water. By the time it reaches households, the residual chlorine content is even lower and harmless to humans. However, if the tap water has a slightly irritating smell, the residual chlorine may be slightly high. In this case, it is recommended to keep the water boiling for about 3 minutes after boiling to reduce residual chlorine, making the boiled tap water safer for drinking or brewing tea.
