In order to further improve the application level of Tea Garden management, strengthen winter care of Tea gardens, and promote high-quality development of the tea industry, a field observation meeting for winter management of tea gardens in Guizhou Province was held on November 12th at the tea plantation base in Bayou Village, Dahhe Town, Sandu County. The event was organized by the Provincial Tea Industry Task Force and co-hosted by the Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau of Qian'nan Prefecture and the People's Government of Sandu County.

At the observation meeting, Zheng Song, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau of Qian'nan Prefecture and Director of the Tea Industrialization Development Center, reported on the effectiveness of winter care measures for tea gardens in Qian'nan Prefecture. Lei Ruiyong, Deputy Leader of the provincial tea task force under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, commended the effectiveness of winter care measures for tea gardens in Qian'nan Prefecture. He emphasized that winter care is an important measure for the development of the tea industry, and that tea gardens in Qian'nan Prefecture and throughout Guizhou Province should strengthen the closure of gardens during the winter. Tan Xiaofeng, a researcher at the Plant Protection Station of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, detailed key points for winter management of tea gardens from four aspects: soil and fertilizer management, canopy management, disease and pest control, and frost prevention. He also provided local tea farmers with detailed instructions on how to fertilize tea gardens, key techniques for pruning tea plants, and essential measures for controlling diseases and pests in tea gardens.

Technicians demonstrate mechanized operation techniques
Following this, technicians on-site demonstrated mechanized operation techniques for measures such as deep plowing and fertilizing, pruning tea trees, and controlling diseases and pests, all part of winter care for tea gardens.
Participants at the observation meeting and local tea farmers alike expressed that they gained a great deal from the winter management field observation meeting. Liu Xianhui, a senior agronomist at the Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau of Longli County, said: “This is the golden time for winter management of tea gardens. The provincial experts explained a lot of professional knowledge, which will be very helpful for our future winter management of tea gardens.”
