Spring Tea Drinking Feels Dull? It's Because You Haven't Tried These Things

Tea News · Aug 04, 2025

Ask yourself, do you not find it the least bit monotonous to do the same thing every day?

First, change your mood.

Drinking tea is a daily activity, and repeating the same thing can feel dull. Shift your mindset before each tea session—avoid assuming the tea will taste the same, the aroma unchanged, or the conversation repetitive. Instead, approach it with anticipation.

Second, try a new type of tea.

While the routine may seem unvarying, small adjustments can make a difference. For example, switch up your tea:

1. Replace traditional tea (requiring a gaiwan and strainer) with tea bags (convenient and easy to clean), then compare their flavors.

2. Swap Pu-erh ripe tea for red tea. Their similar hues might deceive the eye, but taste them side by side to decide whether you prefer the richness of Pu-erh or the mellowness of red tea.

3. Enhance red tea with additions like lemon for a summery twist or milk to craft a homemade奶茶.

Third, refresh your tea set or tea mat.

Familiarity with a tea set breeds attachment, but stagnation dulls appreciation. New tools bring tactile and visual novelty while testing your adaptability. The selection process itself—weighing options like "fish or bear's paw"—adds depth.

Lastly, redefine your tea space.

Arrange flowers, reset the tea mat, play traditional music, or curate books or films. These acts, solo or shared, enrich the experience. March invites renewal—alter your tea mat, cup, blend, gaiwan, floral arrangement, attire, or perspective. Venture into uncharted territory: select blooms and vases for arrangements or sip tea in a new spot.

Spring is here—shed life’s burdens and embrace tea with joy. Stroll through tea fields if time allows, or gather friends to savor tea and stories. Spring comes but once; don’t let it pass unnoticed.
