What is the difference between organic tea and regular tea?

Tea News · Sep 08, 2025

The difference between organic tea and regular tea can be summarized in three main aspects:

First, regular tea cultivation typically involves the use of agricultural chemicals such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides, while organic tea prohibits the use of any agricultural chemicals and all synthetic additives, relying only on organic fertilizers (e.g., sheep manure) and physical plant-based pesticides for pest control.

Second, regular tea generally undergoes quality inspection only for the final product, with little or no consideration for intermediate processes; whereas organic tea is subject to审查 at every stage—production, processing, transportation, and storage.

Third, if there is a quality issue with organic tea, it can be traced back to any环节 through its quality tracking system, which is difficult to achieve with regular tea.

Background knowledge:

Organic tea is produced and processed using organic agricultural methods. During its production, no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, plant growth regulators, chemical food additives, or other artificial substances are used. It complies with the standards of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and is certified by organic (natural) food certification organizations.

Organic tea is a pollution-free, purely natural tea. It was also the first certified organic food product exported from China.
