Characteristics of Tieguanyin Autumn Tea
Characteristic one of Tieguanyin autumn tea: The dry tea is tightly rolled and produces a crisp sound when thrown into the cup. To identify, take a small amount of dry tea and throw it into a lid bowl. If it produces a crisp sound, it is autumn tea; if the sound is dull, it should be summer tea. The reason is that authentic autumn Tieguanyin has a tightly rolled appearance with thick, solid, and heavy characteristics, so it naturally produces a loud sound when thrown into the cup. Summer tea, on the other hand, has a loose and light appearance, so the sound when thrown into the cup is relatively dull.

Characteristic two of Tieguanyin autumn tea: The dry tea is fresh green and glossy. The color and glossiness of the dry tea are also one of the more intuitive identification methods. Authentic Anxi Tieguanyin autumn tea should have a fresh green color in its dry tea, so it is not difficult to identify. Take a small amount of dry tea under the light. If it is green and has a rich glossiness, it is authentic autumn tea; if the color is dark and dull and lacks glossiness, it is generally summer tea. However, if the tea shows the color of spring tea, which is dark oily color (like the color of persimmon cake with frost), then it is not only authentic autumn tea but also high-quality authentic autumn tea.

Characteristic three of Tieguanyin autumn tea: It has a fresh fruit fragrance. After brewing Anxi Tieguanyin autumn tea, its most prominent scent characteristic is having a fresh fruit and flower fragrance, the so-called autumn aroma. Using this to identify, if it does not have this scent characteristic, it can basically be determined that it is not autumn tea. From the scent perspective, the biggest difference between Anxi Tieguanyin autumn tea and tea from other seasons is a characteristic that is easiest for most people to master. If it is summer tea, the main scent characteristic is a similar fishy smell.

Characteristic four of Tieguanyin autumn tea: The brewed leaves are soft and concave. Take out two or three brewed leaves after several infusions and unfold them for a closer look. If the brewed leaves are soft and concave, it can generally be identified as authentic autumn Tieguanyin; if the brewed leaves are stiff and rough, it can be determined that it is not authentic autumn Tieguanyin.
