The Lijia Garden Tea Plantation in Liyang City, Jiangsu Province, is situated amidst the bamboo forests and mountains at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces, adjacent to the Nanshan Bamboo Sea within the Tianmu Lake tourist area. It belongs to the hilly region on the northern edge of the central subtropical zone, featuring a warm climate, ample rainfall, sufficient sunshine, distinct seasons, and no pollution. This plantation is the largest village-level collective tea farm in Jiangsu Province, with a tea garden area of 933 mu (about 62.2 hectares), including 200 mu of clonal improved variety tea gardens, 200 mu of premium White Tea, and 200 mu of premium Yellow Tea. The tea processing factory is equipped with four advanced production lines for famous tea, broken black tea, and Japanese steamed green tea, possessing fixed assets worth over 2.5 million RMB. The Lijia Garden Tea Plantation produces over 100 tons of various grades of tea annually, including more than 15 tons of premium and special teas and over 5 tons of exported steamed green tea, with an annual output value exceeding 4 million RMB and annual tax payments and reserves surpassing one million RMB. In recent years, 200 mu of Tianmu Lake White Tea and 200 mu of Yellow Tea have been introduced, both being rare and precious varieties. The Yellow Tea is the first and exclusive introduction in the city, producing tea with exceptionally high aroma, clear and mellow liquor, and a sweet aftertaste, making it a treasure among teas. Under the guidance of Mr. Zhang Zhicheng, a senior tea expert in Jiangsu Province, the Lijia Garden Tea Plantation successfully created the famous tea 'Nanshan Shou Mei' in 1986. This tea won the title of 'National Famous Tea' at the 1989 National Famous Tea Exhibition and Evaluation Conference and secured the special prize of the 'Zhongcha Cup' at the 1993 China Tea Science Society Famous Tea Competition. Since 1993, it has participated in successive Jiangsu Province Famous and Special Tea competitions, winning the 'Luyu Cup' special prize four times consecutively. In 2003, it was certified as a 'Pollution-Free' agricultural product; in 2004, it was selected for inclusion in the 'China Famous Tea Records'; in 2005, it was designated as the official tea for the '9th China Liyang Tea Festival and First Tianmu Lake Tourism Festival'.
Liyang City has a long history of tea production and is renowned as the 'Hometown of Tea'. In 1999, the city introduced White Tea and established its own brand—Tianmu Lake White Tea. Tianmu Lake White Tea has an amino acid content of 6.25–9%, more than twice that of ordinary tea, and a tea polyphenol content of 10.7%, half that of ordinary tea. Its shape resembles phoenix feathers, its color is like jade frost, and its quality is unique. After brewing, it has a strong aroma, a fresh, sweet, and mellow taste, and a bright, light yellow liquor. Tianmu Lake White Tea also possesses functions such as anti-radiation, antioxidant, anti-tumor, lowering blood pressure, lowering blood lipids, and lowering blood sugar. It is highly favored by consumers, and market demand exceeds supply.
