【Name】Wuzi Xianhao
【Category】Green Tea
【Origin】Wuzi Mountain, a famous mountain in the south of Xixiang County, Shaanxi Province
【Introduction】
Produced on Wuzi Mountain, a Taoist sacred site in the south of Xixiang County, Shaanxi Province. It passed provincial technical appraisal and new product identification in January 1985.
The tea garden is located in southern Shaanxi, eastern Hanzhong region, with an average annual temperature of 14.7°C, annual rainfall of 1000–1500 mm, and an altitude of 600–1200 meters. The soil is slightly acidic with high organic matter content. The tea area features lush forests, fresh air, and fertile soil, providing an ideal tea-growing environment described as "spring-like all year round with rain-washed green mountains." The finished tea resembles an orchid in shape, with an emerald green color and fully covered with white hairs; it has a high, lasting aroma, a mellow, refreshing, and sweet aftertaste, and a clear, bright liquor; the brewed leaves show whole buds and leaves.
【Processing Technique】
Fresh leaves are picked from before Qingming (early April) until 10 days after Guyu (mid to late April), using the standard of one bud with one or two initial leaves. There are approximately 62,000 buds per kilogram of dry tea. The fresh leaves undergo seven processing steps: spreading (3–5 hours), fixation, cooling and rolling, initial drying and shaping, baking, and sorting.
【Quality Characteristics】
Wuzi Xianhao is refined from tender fresh leaves. Its strips are slightly flat, resembling orchids, with a vibrant green color and visible hairs. The liquor is tender green and bright, with a lasting fresh aroma. It is rich in natural trace elements such as zinc and selenium, with zinc content ranging from 53.5–67.5 µg/g, selenium content at 0.858 µg/g, amino acids at 3.5–5.23%, caffeine at 4.43%, tea polyphenols at 32.87%, and water extract at 44.57%.
