What Should You Do If You Get Tea Drunk?

Tea drunkenness is something almost every tea drinker has experienced, even seasoned tea enthusiasts occasionally encounter it.

Symptoms of tea drunkenness: The head feels dizzy, as if you’ve had a couple of shots of liquor; there’s a buzzing in the ears like many small insects resonating; the whole body feels limp and weak; the stomach feels hollow with obvious hunger, yet something seems to be lodged inside, causing bloating; in severe cases, a churning sensation rises from the stomach to the throat, making you want to vomit but unable to do so.

If you experience the above symptoms after drinking tea, you are tea drunk. What should you do?

You can choose to eat.

You can eat some high-sugar snacks: candy, chocolate, sugar balls, nuts, fruits, etc.

If you don’t like sweets, you can also eat meat; it works very well too.

You can choose to keep drinking.

Drink what?

Of course, not tea anymore.

Sugar water, white sugar water, rock sugar water, brown sugar water, honey water... any kind of sugar water will do.

If you have no sugar water, no snacks, and not even a piece of candy, just drink plain water. Drinking several cups can slowly alleviate the discomfort.

When drinking tea, it’s best to avoid getting tea drunk. Although tea drunkenness isn’t harmful, it’s better to avoid it if possible.

First, don’t drink tea that is too strong.

Even if you use it to refresh yourself, keep it moderate.

Second, don’t drink too much tea.

Here, “too much” refers to both the volume of tea water and the variety of tea.

Overindulgence can easily get you drunk. One or two infusions a day is enough, and one or two types of tea are sufficient.

Mixing different types of tea most easily leads to tea drunkenness.

Also, never drink tea on an empty stomach.

Eat something before drinking tea—it makes the experience more solid and safe.

If the tea is strong, it’s best not to drink it on an empty stomach or in large gulps, such as raw pu'er or new tea.

Even seasoned tea drinkers can easily get tea drunk if they drink strong tea without snacks.

Drinking tea is certainly beneficial to the body, but it should be done with proper methods.

Learn to drink tea scientifically and healthily, making tea a healthy tool and a companion in life.
