On August 9, District Party Secretary Ding Lixin conducted special research on the revitalization of the Dongting Mountain Biluochun Tea industry. He emphasized the need to accelerate the construction of a modern Tea culture industry system, enhance the overall influence of Wuzhong's tea industry, and effectively convert the resource advantages of Dongting Mountain Biluochun tea into industrial, economic, and development advantages for Wuzhong.
Biluochun tea originates from the Dongting East and West Mountains area around Suzhou's Taihu Lake and is named “Biluochun” due to its clear green infusion and spiral shape. The craftsmanship of making Biluochun tea in Wuzhong District has been listed as a national-level intangible cultural heritage project and included in UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Ding Lixin visited the Dongting Mountain Biluochun Digital Processing Center and the China Dongting Mountain Biluochun Tea Museum, carefully listened to progress updates on construction projects, and provided specific requirements for improving supporting facilities and upgrading the industrial capacity.
During a subsequent work symposium, the Wuzhong Agricultural Development Group reported on the overall planning and construction of the China (Wuzhong) Taihu Dongting Mountain Biluochun Tea Culture Park. In the first half of this year, the initial form of the tea culture park took shape. It successfully registered as a Jiangsu Provincial Tea Culture Science Popularization Education Base and a Suzhou City Tea Culture Science Popularization Education Base. It hosted multiple events, including the 2024 China Green Tea Brand Conference and the Second Suzhou Taihu Dongting Mountain Biluochun Tea Culture Festival. Dongting Mountain Biluochun maintained its position as the fourth most valuable regional public brand of Chinese green tea, further enhancing its brand influence.
Ding Lixin pointed out that Dongting Mountain Biluochun is a beautiful calling card for Suzhou. Suzhou has enacted the “Regulations on the Protection of Dongting Mountain Biluochun Tea in Suzhou City” to promote the continuous healthy development of the Dongting Mountain Biluochun tea industry. All localities and departments must attach great importance to the revitalization of the Dongting Mountain Biluochun tea industry, fully support the construction of the tea culture park, and take concrete actions to protect the Dongting Mountain Biluochun tea brand, develop and strengthen the tea industry, and inherit and promote tea culture.
Ding Lixin stressed the need to promote comprehensive rural revitalization in zones, seize the opportunity of quality improvement and upgrading of the Dongting Mountain Biluochun tea industry, and create characteristic pastoral villages with high-quality construction, excellent environmental conditions, good public services, and abundant cultural features, precisely enhancing the urban and rural Landscape. Efforts should be made to strengthen self-sustaining capabilities, select and strengthen talent teams, establish and implement evaluation systems, continuously extend the tea industry chain, rapidly upgrade the industrial capacity, and use market mechanisms to stimulate internal motivation and business vitality, building leading agricultural enterprises. Function layouts should be optimized and improved, guided by the needs of the people, to create new scenarios of agriculture, tourism, and culture with reasonable content, complete facilities, and convenient services, fostering new growth points for leisure consumption and promoting the enhancement of the integration of tea, culture, and tourism. Brand resources should be comprehensively sorted and integrated, and the integration of agriculture, tourism, and culture study projects should be expedited. The construction of a modern logistics distribution system should be accelerated to steadily build and operate the tea culture park well and tell the story of Wuzhong's agricultural brands.
