Five Foods That Are Incompatible with Tea! (Must Read)

Tea News · Jun 11, 2025

"Tea is a great health-preserving ingredient, but it has certain dietary restrictions. If tea is improperly paired with food, it can lead to food incompatibility, producing harmful substances that endanger health!

1. Tea and Lamb

While eating lamb occasionally is beneficial, drinking tea with lamb can cause the abundant protein in lamb to bind with the tannic acid in tea, forming a substance called tannin-protein, which may lead to constipation.

2. Tea and Sugar

Tea is bitter and cold in nature, and people drink it to stimulate digestive juices and enhance digestion, as well as for detoxification. Adding sugar to tea can inhibit these functions.

3. Tea and Eggs

Boiling eggs in tea results in a high concentration of tea, which contains significant tannic acid. Tannic acid can solidify proteins in food, making them harder to digest and reducing the body's ability to absorb and utilize protein.

4. Tea and Alcohol

Drinking tea after alcohol can cause the diuretic effect of theophylline to push acetaldehyde (a byproduct of alcohol metabolism) into the kidneys before it is fully broken down, potentially damaging kidney function.

5. Avoid Tea After Eating Dog Meat

Dog meat is rich in protein, and tea contains a lot of tannic acid. Drinking tea immediately after eating dog meat can bind the tannic acid with the protein, forming tannin-protein, which may cause constipation and harm health.

Finally, avoid taking medication with tea. The tannic acid in tea can react with certain drugs (such as ferrous sulfate tablets, ferric ammonium citrate, berberine, etc.), forming precipitates that reduce drug absorption.
