Cordyceps is too expensive, Golden Flower Pu-erh is more affordable

Tea News · Jul 09, 2025

Is cordyceps expensive?

Absolutely! Often costing hundreds or even thousands per gram, it's a high-end luxury. However, another beverage with 'fungus'—tea—is an excellent alternative.

When it comes to 'fungus,' sometimes we avoid it, but other times it becomes a delicacy. As the 'antique' of teas—Pu-erh tea—we often pursue its aging process. Early Pu-erh teas that unintentionally developed 'Golden Flower' became the 'gold' of teas.

The so-called 'Golden Flower' is a special process during tea production where a fungus called 'Eurotium cristatum' grows on the tea leaves. This is a nationally permitted secondary protected microorganism, originally found on herbs like cordyceps and lingzhi, commonly known as 'Golden Flower.'

Golden Flower Pu-erh uses traditional large-leaf Pu-erh sun-dried tea as its base, refined further. Through controlled fermentation techniques and specific climatic conditions, the tea develops Golden Flower, restoring the rare phenomenon of early Pu-erh teas.

Golden Flower Pu-erh has a light fungal aroma, with a clear and bright infusion and a mellow taste. The fungus, scientifically named Eurotium cristatum, belongs to the Aspergillus family. During its growth, it absorbs enzymes from the tea, transforming them and creating the tea's unique flavor.

The value of Golden Flower rivals that of cordyceps. Combined with Pu-erh leaves, it helps reduce fat and aids weight loss. The Golden Flower also eliminates excess free radicals in the body, a key factor in abnormal cell mutations. Long-term consumption supports the immune system and transforms the tea's enzymes, absorbing proteins and lipids, making it a 'golden partner' for health.

Great tea with beneficial fungus—why not pour yourself a cup of this 'golden partner' for your health?
