This is how to brew black tea for the best taste, save it

Tea News · Aug 24, 2025

Currently, black tea is popular again. What are its benefits? How to drink it? Black tea is named for its dark appearance. During processing, beneficial microbial activity and hydrothermal effects cause changes in the tealeaves that are beneficial to human health.

Yixing purple clay teapots have a dual-pore structure with fine pores and high density. Brewing tea in a purple clay teapot preserves the original flavor, and the aroma does not dissipate, capturing the true taste of the tea. "Trapping the aroma and dispersing the heat" is an important characteristic of brewing black tea with a purple clay teapot.

If purchasing purple clay tea sets, choose those produced in Yixing. Yixing clay has strong adhesion and is resistant to firing. Using such teaware to brew black tea will not overpower the tea's fragrance and can maintain the color, aroma, and taste of the tea leaves for a longer time.

For brewing black tea, it is best to use spring water, well water, mineral water, or purified water. The water temperature must be high, generally using 100°C water for brewing. Alternatively, rinsing the tea with boiling water and then brewing with cold water boiled again can enhance the flavor.

Black tea not only helps with weight loss and improves gastrointestinal function but also has anti-aging properties and regulates brain nerves. It can generally be steeped up to 20 times. If preferring a stronger taste, increase the amount of tea leaves or extend the steeping time. Conversely, for a lighter taste, reduce the amount of tea leaves or shorten the steeping time.
