The Importance of Tea Drinking Timing
When Should Women Avoid Drinking Tea
1. During Menstrual Period
During the monthly menstrual period, menstrual blood consumes a significant amount of iron in the body. Therefore, women should focus on consuming iron-rich vegetables and fruits. However, if tea is habitually drunk after meals during this time, the tannins in tea leaves (up to 50%) can hinder the intestinal mucosa's absorption of iron, greatly reducing iron uptake. This can easily lead to the formation of precipitates with iron in food or iron supplements in the intestines.
2. Pregnancy Period
Pregnant women should also avoid drinking tea during pregnancy. The concentration of caffeine in strong tea can be as high as 10%, which increases urine output, raises heart rate, and adds burden to the heart and kidneys of pregnant women. It may even lead to gestational toxemia, so it is best to drink less tea.
3. Late Pregnancy (Before Childbirth)
Pregnant women should not drink too much tea before childbirth. If too much tea is consumed before delivery, the caffeine in tea can cause excitement and lead to insomnia. If a pregnant woman does not get enough sleep before childbirth, it may result in exhaustion during labor and even lead to difficult childbirth.
