Precautions for Drinking Black Tea

The following points should be noted when consuming black tea:

New tea isn't necessarily better when fresher. Improper drinking methods can easily harm the stomach and intestines. Since new tea is freshly picked and has short storage time, it contains relatively high amounts of unoxidized polyphenols, aldehydes, and alcohols. These substances don't significantly affect healthy people, but for those with poor gastrointestinal function, especially patients with chronic gastrointestinal inflammation, these materials can irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa. People with originally weak gastrointestinal function are more susceptible to stomach problems. Therefore, new tea shouldn't be consumed excessively, and tea stored for less than half a month shouldn't be drunk at all.

These components can also excite the central nervous system. Patients with neurasthenia or cardiovascular diseases should consume in moderation, and it's not suitable to drink before sleep or on an empty stomach. The correct method is to allow it to rest for at least half a month before possible use. Don't use tea to take medicine; avoid drinking tea within one hour before or after taking medication. Ginseng and American ginseng shouldn't be consumed with tea. Avoid drinking strong tea to counteract alcohol; not advisable to drink tea before meals; avoid drinking tea immediately after meals; young women should avoid strong tea.
