Gaoqiao Yinfeng is produced at the foot of Yuhuang Peak in the eastern suburbs of Changsha City, Hunan Province. The area features rolling green hills, interlaced rivers and lakes, lingering clouds and mist, and beautiful scenery. Quality characteristics: the appearance shows tightly fine, curled strips with visible pekoe; the inner quality features a high, pleasant, and lasting aroma, a bright liquor, a fresh, tender, pure, and dry taste, and a tender, even, bright brewed leaf.
Gaoqiao Yinfeng is a special variety of pan-fired green tea, known for its beautiful shape, fresh fragrance, clear liquor, and mellow taste. "Snowy buds like silver reveal a unique fragrance, with a clever and delicious taste that lingers sweetly on the tongue." In appearance, the strips are tightly fine and curled, the color is uniformly emerald green, covered with white pekoe like clouds, and when piled up, it resembles a silver mountain range. The inner quality features a fresh, tender, clear, and mellow aroma, a pure, strong, and sweet aftertaste, a crystal bright liquor color, and tender, even, clean brewed leaves. The content of effective components in the tea quality ranks first among famous teas across the country. According to research and analysis by Professor Chen Chuan in 1983, Gaoqiao Yinfeng's water-soluble substances reach 45.42%; it contains mineral ash 4.99%, caffeine 4.27%, soluble sugar 2.66%, and catechins 11.48%. In 1989, tests by the Ministry of Agriculture's Tea Quality Inspection Center showed that all hygiene indicators of Gaoqiao Yinfeng fully comply with national standards. Multiple pesticide residue tests on Gaoqiao Yinfeng commercial samples by the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences detected no pesticide residues, meeting the standards for pollution-free tea.
Due to the very high requirements for fresh leaf picking, significant time limitations, and the pursuit of perfection in processing, the annual tea production of Gaoqiao Yinfeng is very limited. At its inception, annual output was only over 10 kilograms, and even now it does not exceed 100 kilograms, making its preciousness self-evident.
Gaoqiao Yinfeng is a newly created famous tea developed by the Hunan Tea Research Institute in 1959, produced in Gaoqiao, Changsha. Located at the foot of Yuhuang Peak, the area is surrounded by overlapping green hills, interlaced rivers and lakes, deep soil layers, abundant rainfall, and a mild climate, historically known as a land of famous teas. Gaoqiao Yinfeng is named for its resemblance to a silver mountain range when piled up and its place of origin, Gaoqiao. In 1978, Gaoqiao Yinfeng won the Hunan Provincial Science Conference Award and has since repeatedly received the titles of Hunan Famous Tea and China Famous Tea. In 1964, Gaoqiao Yinfeng was sent as a gift to Guo Moruo, then President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. After tasting it, Guo Moruo was inspired to compose a poem praising it: "Willing to let Huzhou boast its Purple Bamboo Shoot, wishing to compete with Shuangjing's Red Gauze," comparing Gaoqiao Yinfeng to the esteemed Zisun tea and Shuangjing tea. Gaoqiao Yinfeng has a unique quality style: the appearance features tightly fine, slightly curled strips with an emerald green color, snow-white pekoe standing upright all over; the inner quality has a fresh and rich aroma, a mellow and full taste, a clear and bright liquor, and tender, even brewed leaves. Its quality is excellent, meeting the requirements for famous tea. Chemical analysis shows it contains tea polyphenols 18%, amino acids 3.98%, soluble sugar 2.56%, and total water-soluble substances 37%.
