Jinxuan Tea is the name of a tea cultivar, primarily produced in Nantou and Chiayi. It was successfully bred by the Taiwan Tea Research and Extension Station after over forty years of cultivation, becoming the twelfth new variety developed in the 1980s. It was named Tai Cha No. 12, which is the origin of Jinxuan Tea's scientific name. Later, it was also named Jinxuan. Since then, partially fermented tea made from Tai Cha No. 12 tea leaves has been called Jinxuan Tea, commonly known as '27仔.' Jinxuan Tea leaves are thick, tender, and have a glossy green color. The tea offers a pure, smooth taste with a light milky and floral aroma, giving it a unique flavor profile. It can be processed into Oolong tea.
