 Huangjingui is an Oolong tea made from the tender shoots of the Huangyan (also known as Huangdan) variety tea plant. It is another premium tea within the Oolong category, distinct in style from Tieguanyin. So, what are the quality characteristics of Huangjingui? The finished Huangjingui tea has tight, slender strips with a glossy, bright golden-yellow color. The tea soup is golden-yellow and clear; a light sip fills the mouth with freshness, offering a mellow, delicate, sweet, and fresh taste that is uplifting and refreshing. Its aroma is elegant and brisk, with a slight osmanthus fragrance. The brewed leaves are yellowish-green in the center with vermilion edges, soft and bright. It has long been famous for 'recognizing Huangdan by its aroma alone,' and was historically praised as 'perceiving the transcendent fragrance before tasting the celestial flavor.'

Huangjingui, also known as Huangyan (Dan), originated in Luoyan, Anxi, and was created during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty (1850–1860). The leaves are very thin and naturally yellowish even before picking.

Appearance: The strips are long, slender, pointed, and relatively loose, giving a light, not heavy, appearance. The stems are small and fine. The color is yellowish-brown, emerald yellow, or yellowish-green with a sheen. It is often described as 'yellow, thin, and fine.'

Inner Quality: The tea liquor is golden-yellow and bright or light yellow and clear. The aroma is exceptionally high, fragrant, and elegant, often with peach or pear notes. The taste is mellow, delicate, fresh, and brisk, with a sweet aftertaste, refreshing and invigorating. It is commonly summarized by the terms 'fragrant, unique, and fresh.'

Brewed Leaves: Yellowish-green, with slightly pointed leaf tips, elongated in shape, prominent main veins, relatively thin leaves, and shallow serrations along the edges.
