West Lake Longjing

Longjing Tea is perhaps the most well-known among China's famous teas. Mentioning West Lake naturally brings Longjing tea to mind. During his third visit to Hangzhou, Emperor Qianlong designated the 18 tea trees in front of the Hugong Temple as "Imperial Tea Trees," giving rise to the saying "the eighteen imperial tea trees."

Appearance: Flat, smooth, straight, sharp, and uniformly整齐, with a vibrant emerald green color. Generally under 3 cm long, buds and leaves form even clusters, free of stems or broken leaves, appearing delicate and exquisite.

Origin: West Lake, Hangzhou

Liquor Color: Clear and bright is best; deep yellow is inferior.

Aroma: Fresh, pure tender fragrance,清醇 and持久.

Dongting Biluochun

Biluochun has always been favored by scholars and literati. During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Kangxi greatly admired this tea with its碧绿 liquor color and spiral-curled leaves, naming it "Biluochun," also known as "Dongting Biluochun."

Appearance: Silver buds are visible, with one bud and one leaf. The total length of the tea leaves is about 1.5 cm. The buds are白毫 and curved, the leaves are curled and青绿色. The brewed leaves are tender, even, and bright.

Origin: Dongting Mountain, Taihu Lake, Suzhou

Liquor Color:碧绿 and clear

Aroma: Long-lasting aftertaste, refreshing and pleasing.

Lu'an Guapian

When brewing Lu'an Guapian, steam rises, and a清香 wafts everywhere. Lu'an Guapian must be harvested about 10 days before and after "Guyu" (Grain Rain), using the relatively mature嫩叶 from the tea branches. It wins with its片 (leaf) form and is the only片茶 (leaf tea) among Chinese green teas that removes both stems and buds.

Appearance: Single leaves lie flat and even, with leaf edges curled backward, free of buds and stems, resembling melon seeds in shape, with a宝绿 color.

Origin: Lu'an, Anhui

Liquor Color:澄明翠绿, clear and crystal bright.

Aroma:清香, high, long-lasting, and持久.

Huangshan Maofeng

Huangshan Maofeng belongs to the famous teas of the Qing Dynasty, created by the Xie Yutai Tea House during the Guangxu period. Harvested annually around Qingming and Guyu, because the newly made tea leaves are covered with白毫 and the芽尖 are sharp, the tea was named Huangshan Maofeng.

Appearance: Resembling sparrow tongues, green with a hint of yellow, glossy and油润, with silver毫显露. The芽尖 cling closely to the leaves, accompanied by golden-yellow fish leaves.

Origin: Huangshan, Anhui

Liquor Color:青碧微黄, brewed leaves are yellow-green and lively.

Aroma:鲜浓醇厚, with a deep and lasting韵味.
