What is old leaf tea?

Old leaf tea is not of low quality because the leaves are old; in fact, it often has richer flavor than tender leaf tea. On the same branch, the content of sweet substances such as sucrose and reducing sugars is higher in old leaves and increases as the leaves age. Therefore, Pu'er tea made from coarser materials has a distinct sweetness.
