Pu'er tea cake storage methods

1. Store raw and ripe cakes separately. Loose tea should also follow the same rule based on raw or ripe processing methods.

2. The ideal storage location is near the ground floor, allowing the tea to naturally interact with the air and age through humidity and temperature.

3. If you live in an apartment with a tea room, you can store tea there. Set up a dedicated tea storage room. Do not use dehumidifiers or air conditioners to dry out the tea's moisture; natural temperature storage is best.

4. Avoid direct sunlight or exposure to light. This is a key storage factor. Light can severely damage the tea, so be cautious!

5. If a tea cake is in a bundle of seven pieces, do not wrap it in a plastic bag. The original bamboo leaves are the tea's protector and are reliable for storage. Loose tea or broken cakes should be placed in a tea jar.

6. Tea jars should be made of ceramic or pottery. When using a ceramic jar for storage, be careful: ripe cakes with an acidic aroma should not be placed in such containers; pottery jars are better. Ceramic jars are suitable for raw cakes. Pottery jars can be glazed or unglazed. Glazed jars retain humidity well and have moderate activity, suitable for aged tea. Unglazed pottery jars are better for transforming tea and are ideal for new tea. However, note that if the jar is too absorbent, it is not suitable for storing tea.
