Did You Say You Can Brew Tieguanyin Tea? Have You Done These Points?

1. Utensil Selection

It is recommended to use a Gongfu tea white porcelain set. This allows you to enjoy the refreshing aroma of Tieguanyin during brewing while also admiring the elegant unfurling of the tea leaves and the crystal-clear tea liquor.

2. Water Temperature Control

Water temperature is crucial when brewing Tieguanyin. The right temperature helps release the tea's aroma, flavor, and beneficial compounds.

High-altitude, premium Tieguanyin should be brewed with near-boiling water (100°C) to fully extract its essence. For regular Tieguanyin, the water temperature can be slightly lower, around 95°C.

3. Amount of Tea Leaves

How much tea leaves should you use for brewing Tieguanyin? Adjust according to personal taste. Generally, 7-8 grams of dry tea leaves can yield over 7 infusions. As a flagship product of Shanguo Yinyi, "Shanguo Xiang" Tieguanyin, with 8.35g per packet, is a top choice for Tieguanyin enthusiasts.

4. Brewing Method

Before brewing, rinse the teacup with hot water, then add 7-8g of Tieguanyin dry leaves. After a quick rinse, pour water gently along the side of the white porcelain cup or glass to protect the delicate tea leaves and ensure a clear, bright liquor.

5. Infusion Time

After the initial rinse, slowly pour boiling water for the second infusion. Let the tea steep for about 10 seconds before decanting, with a total brewing time of 25-30 seconds. For subsequent infusions, reheat the water to boiling before brewing.

6. Water Quality

Use high-quality mineral or spring water with low mineral content (soft water) for brewing. This enhances the tea's vibrancy and freshness.

Office Brewing Method:

With Tieguanyin dry leaves and hot water ready, you can brew in just three steps:

1. Rinse the Tea:

To quickly release the flavor, first rinse the leaves by adding boiling water and immediately pouring it out.

2. Brew the Tea:

After rinsing, add boiling water again, cover, and let it steep for 10-20 seconds before drinking to avoid over-extraction.

3. Timing:

For the second infusion, extend the steeping time slightly. Using this method, you can brew Tieguanyin 6-8 times before replacing the leaves.

Now, you can easily enjoy a delicious cup of Tieguanyin!
