For brewing green tea, choose a larger teapot, typically around 300 milliliters, with a short body and wide opening. This allows the green tea to fully express its fresh and fragrant qualities at around 85°C. When brewing green tea, leave the lid off for 2-3 minutes before covering and pouring the tea into a tasting cup.
For black tea, the teapot size can vary, but a small spout and tall body are preferable. Black tea requires high-temperature steeping, and this teapot shape helps enhance its sweet and mellow flavors. For oolong tea, choose a small teapot to concentrate the aroma and improve the taste.

For scented tea, use a teapot similar to the one for green tea to fully bring out the complex aromas of the flowers and tea leaves. For Pu'er and aged oolong tea, opt for small teapots with wide mouths and porous clay.

From the perspective of the teapot’s artistic charm, rustic teapots suit strongly flavored, heavily fermented teas like rock tea, Pu'er, and black tea. Elegant teapots are better for fragrant teas like green tea and oolong. Tall-lidded teapots, resembling Mongolian yurts with thin rims, are excellent for aromatic oolong tea. The lid’s ability to trap fragrance rivals that of a scent cup.
