China is the ancient land of tea, the birthplace of tea and tea culture, and the first country in the world to cultivate, process, and drink tea. Its vast and diverse tea-producing regions, rich variety of teas, and profound historical heritage have given rise to countless legendary teas that captivate the world. Black tea, as one of the main varieties of Chinese tea, has a long history. China is the origin of black tea, which comes in many types and is produced across a wide range of regions.
Qimen Gongfu
Qimen black tea, one of China's famous black tea varieties, is produced in the Qimen County area of Anhui Province and has a production history spanning hundreds of years. An ancient poem says, "Qimen black tea surpasses all others in excellence, its high fragrance unmatched." Qimen black tea is beloved by tea enthusiasts for its unique qualities of "high aroma, mellow taste, beautiful shape, and bright color." When brewed, it releases a fresh and fragrant aroma with hints of honey and fruit, while premium grades may also carry an orchid fragrance, with a long-lasting aroma. The tea liquor is bright red, with a fresh, sweet, and mellow taste, and the leaves are bright red after brewing.
Dianhong Gongfu
Gongfu tea and Dianhong broken black tea are mainly exported to Russia, Poland, and other Eastern European countries, as well as over 30 countries and regions in Western Europe and North America. Domestically, they are sold in major cities across China. Dianhong is often enjoyed with sugar and milk, yet its aroma and taste remain strong even after adding milk. The brewed tea liquor is bright red, and high-quality Dianhong often forms a golden ring where the tea meets the cup. Cooling the tea immediately results in a milky cloudiness, known as "cold aftercloud," with earlier formation indicating superior quality.
Min Hong Gongfu
Min Hong Gongfu tea refers collectively to Zhenghe Gongfu, Tanyang Gongfu, and Bailin Gongfu, all specialties of Fujian Province. These three types of Gongfu tea differ in origin, variety, and quality characteristics, yet each has its own loyal following, remaining popular for over a century without decline.
