Fuding Aged White Tea for Anti-inflammation and Detoxification

Tea News · Jun 26, 2026

White tea is one of the six major tea categories in China, mainly produced in northern Fujian Province. Fuding white tea belongs to the white tea category among the six major tea types (green tea, black tea, oolong tea, yellow tea, white tea, dark tea). It is characterized by intact buds with downy hairs, a honey-like fragrance, clear apricot-yellow liquor, and a light, sweet aftertaste.

Fuding white tea is a slightly or semi-fermented tea. Compared with other teas, its buds are plump and heavy, covered with silvery down, giving it a silver-like appearance. It is often praised as the "beauty" or "king of teas," with a silvery, pure aesthetic.

Fuding white tea has a natural and elegant appearance, a fresh and aromatic taste, a mellow and slightly sweet flavor, and a bright apricot-yellow liquor. A gentle sip brings a sense of relaxation and joy.

Fuding white tea also has unique and remarkable health benefits, which can be summarized as follows:

Detoxifying and cooling tea—According to traditional Chinese medicine, white tea is rich in various amino acids and has a cool nature. It is effective in reducing fever, relieving summer heat, and providing anti-inflammatory and detoxifying effects.

Anti-inflammatory tea—In northern China and Fujian production areas, white tea is widely regarded as a good remedy for measles patients. Therefore, the Qing Dynasty scholar Zhou Lianggong recorded in Min Xiao Ji: "Baihao Yinzhen tea, produced in Hongxue Cave on Taimu Mountain, is cool in nature and as effective as rhinoceros horn, making it a holy remedy for treating measles." In Fuding, if a child has a high fever or measles, parents often brew aged white tea for the child, and the condition usually improves quickly.

Weight-loss tea—White tea contains active enzymes essential to the human body. Medical research from both domestic and international sources has shown that long-term consumption of white tea can significantly increase lipase activity, promote fat breakdown and metabolism, effectively control insulin secretion, delay glucose absorption in the intestines, break down excess blood sugar, and promote blood sugar balance.

Beauty tea—White tea has the lowest free radical content, the highest flavonoid content, and an average amino acid content higher than other teas. It helps lower blood pressure, blood lipids, and blood sugar; provides antioxidant, anti-radiation, and anti-tumor effects; and increases the secretion of interferon in human immune cells by up to five times.

Eye-health tea—White tea is also rich in vitamin A precursors, which, after being absorbed by the body, are quickly converted into vitamin A. This can help prevent night blindness and dry eye disease.

Anti-radiation tea—White tea also contains anti-radiation substances that significantly protect the body's hematopoietic function and reduce the harm of TV radiation. Therefore, drinking more white tea while watching TV is highly beneficial, especially for children and adolescents, as it helps protect their eyes and maintain health.

Fuding aged white tea refers to Fuding white tea that has been stored for many years. "Many years" means within a reasonable shelf life, such as 10 to 20 years. During long-term storage, the internal components of the tea slowly change: the aroma gradually dissipates, the liquor color turns redder, the taste becomes mellow, and the tea's nature gradually shifts from cool to warm.

Most teas have a shelf life of two years, because even if well preserved, the aroma will have largely dissipated after two years. However, white tea is different. Like raw Pu'er, the longer it is stored, the richer and more aromatic the tea becomes. There is a saying: "One-year tea, three-year medicine, seven-year treasure." Therefore, the longer white tea is stored, the higher its medicinal value.
