Stomach not feeling well? Choose the right tea for a great warming effect

Tea News · Aug 18, 2025

In China, many people suffer from stomach problems. The stomach's main function is to hold food, and after enduring stomach ailments, people become cautious about their diet. Some have heard that tea can harm the stomach, worsening discomfort, so they avoid it altogether, no matter how much they crave it. But there's no need to be so conflicted—even with a sensitive stomach, choosing the right tea can provide a warming effect.

People with stomach issues need to choose the right tea, but with so many varieties available, many are unsure which to pick. For those with stomach problems, it's best to opt for warm-natured teas, such as Pu'er tea and black tea, which won't further harm the stomach. Drinking these teas can leave the stomach feeling warm, and long-term consumption may even help improve stomach conditions.

On the other hand, cold-natured teas like green tea and Tieguanyin tea should be consumed sparingly by those with stomach issues, as these teas can irritate the stomach and cause discomfort.
