The Tea Ceremony Six Gentlemen are none other than the six "gentlemen": tea spoon, tea pick, tea funnel, tea tongs, tea container, and tea scoop.

As a tea lover, it's important to understand the Tea Ceremony Six Gentlemen and their uses. After all, this represents an aspect of tea culture, common tools for tea tasting, and one of the expressions of tea art.

Tea Funnel

The tea funnel is placed over the teapot opening when adding tea, guiding the leaves into the pot to prevent tea leaves from spilling outside. Since many teapots are quite small nowadays, the tea funnel is an essential item.

Tea Container

The tea container is used to hold tea art utensils.

Tea Tongs

Mostly used to hold teacups while cleaning them, preventing burns and maintaining hygiene. Can also be used like the tea spoon to remove tea residue.

Tea Spoon

Also called tea scraper, mainly used to remove brewed tea leaves from the teapot. Often after brewing, tea leaves become tightly packed in the teapot, and since most teapot openings are small, removing them by hand is neither convenient nor hygienic, hence using the tea spoon to scoop out the brewed tea residue. The tea spoon resembles a soup spoon in shape, hence its name.

Tea Pick

Most teapots have an inner mesh, commonly called the honeycomb. This maintains water flow畅通, especially when the spout gets blocked by tea leaves, used to clear it. Can also be used to even out tea leaves after adding them to the pot, with broken leaves at the bottom and whole leaves on top.

Tea Scoop

Also called tea measure, used to transfer tea leaves into the teapot.
