Effects of Cassia Seed Tea
Cassia Seed Green Tea
Ingredients: 5g each of cassia seeds and green tea.
Preparation: Stir-fry the cassia seeds over low heat until fragrant, then let them cool. Place the fried cassia seeds and green tea in a cup, pour in boiling water, and steep for 3–5 minutes before drinking. Refill with water as needed until the flavor fades.
Benefits: This tea is refreshing and soothing, with a pleasant taste. It helps clear liver heat, reduce lipids and blood pressure, promote bowel movements, and improve vision.
Indications: Suitable for hypertension, hyperlipidemia, constipation, and blurred vision.
Note: Tea from Anhui, known as Songluo, aids digestion; tea from Zhejiang, known as Rizhu, clears heat; tea from Fujian, known as Jian tea, is specifically for relieving miasma; tea from Liuhe, known as Kuding, stops diarrhea; tea from Yunnan, known as Pu'er tea, combines the benefits of aiding digestion, relieving miasma, and stopping diarrhea. For lipid-lowering and digestion, Anhui Songluo tea and Yunnan Pu'er tea are recommended. Choose cassia seeds that are uniform, plump, and yellowish-brown. When frying, stop once they become fragrant to avoid burning, which may reduce efficacy. Cassia seed tea is bitter and cold, which can harm the stomach, so it is not suitable for those with weak spleen and stomach or deficiency of energy and blood. Tea contains caffeine, which helps alertness, so avoid drinking it at night to prevent insomnia.
Chrysanthemum and Cassia Seed Tea
Ingredients: 10g wolfberries, 3g chrysanthemums, 20g cassia seeds.
Preparation: Place the wolfberries, chrysanthemums, and cassia seeds in a large lidded cup. Pour boiling water over them, cover, and let steep for 15 minutes before drinking.
Usage: Drink as tea, frequently refilling the cup. Generally, it can be brewed 3–5 times.
Benefits: Clears liver fire, nourishes yin, improves vision, and lowers blood pressure and lipids. Suitable for post-stroke symptoms of liver fire and yang hyperactivity, such as limb numbness and paralysis, dizziness, lightheadedness, facial flushing, irritability, high blood pressure, red tongue with yellow coating, and wiry pulse.
Hawthorn and Cassia Seed Tea
Ingredients: 10g clean chrysanthemums, 10g fresh hawthorn slices, 5g cassia seeds, 25g sugar.
Usage: Place the chrysanthemums, hawthorn slices, cassia seeds, and sugar in a thermos. Pour boiling water over them, cover tightly, and steep for half an hour. Drink frequently, several times a day.
Benefits: Suitable for menopausal syndrome with liver-kidney yin deficiency and liver yang hyperactivity. Helps with symptoms such as dizziness, headache, irritability, or hypertension-induced dizziness, blurred vision, and insomnia.
